For first time setup or configuration update, The Auto Assignment is a mechanism to automatically configure function keys as Line or BLF keys without the need to manually configure for each function key.

The keys is auto assigned in a contiguous block as this makes it easier for the phone user. The starting position of this block is customizable to accommodate customers who are concern about key placement. With this feature enabled, only auto assigned keys are presented to the user; the custom Line or BLF keys will be set back to None keys.

The Auto Assignment mechanism is able to accommodate different admin's needs such as:

  • guarantee that keys are assigned contiguously, ignoring any pre-existing key configuration.
  • make best effort to assign keys contiguously, but preserving pre-existing key configuration.
