Overview
Since the invention of the private branch exchange (PBX) telephone systems, users expect that desktop phones have buttons where they can see if other extensions are busy or lines have been seized. This document addresses this requirement in the scope of devices that use the session initiation protocol (SIP, see RFC 3261). It introduces a new document type that contains the necessary information and that can be exchanged between the endpoint and the SIP-enabled PBX.
